Public transport in Riga will be free of charge on September 1
On the first day of the new school year, September 1, all passengers will be able to travel free of charge on “Rīgas satiksme” buses, trolleybuses and trams. Passengers will not need to validate or register their journey. This is provided for by the binding regulations of the Riga City Council on public transport fare concessions.
As the new school year begins and the summer season comes to an end, public transport services will gradually switch to autumn timetables. Starting September 1, autumn timetables will be introduced on tram route No. 1, bus route No. 3, and trolleybus routes No. 4 and 17.
From August 31 on weekdays and from September 5 on weekends, timetables will also change on bus routes No. 36 and 58. Buses on route No. 58 will no longer operate to Vecāķi and will instead run along the main route “Purvciems–Vecmīlgrāvis”. There will also be minor changes to the timetable for bus route No. 56.
We wish all students a successful new school year and excellent results!
